피부 질환 중에 여드름처럼 잘 알려진 질환도 없을 것이며 여드름처럼 가볍게 여겨지는 질환도 없을 것이다. 하지만 여드름처럼 보이지만 알고 보면 전혀 다른 피부 질환인 것도 있다. 어떤 질환이냐에 따라 관리 방법이 달라지고 시급히 치료를 요하는 경우도 있으니 무조건 여드름이라고 단정짓는 것은 위험하다.

● 지루피부염(seborrheic dermatitis)

여드름이 잘 발생하는 T존에 잘 생겨 여드름으로 오인되기도 하고 실제로 함께 나타나기도 하기 때문에 여드름으로 오인되는 경우다 많다. 대개 노란색 또는 흰색의 기름이 있는 각질이 생기며 그 부위가 붉어지고 가렵다.
피지분비가 왕성한 미간, 코, 코 주변, 눈썹, 귀 뒤, 두피 등에 잘 생기며 젊은 성인의 3-5%에서 발생하는 아주 흔한 피부 질환이다. 피지의 과다분비, 곰팡이, 환경적 요인, 스트레스, 복합적인 원인으로 인하여 생기며 흔히 스트레스에 의해서 악화가 잘된다. 스트레스를 줄이려고 노력하고 지루피부염 상태에 따른 복용 및 바르는 약으로 치료한다.

● 농포성 접촉 피부염(pustular contact dermatitis)

접촉 피부염이란 외부 물질과의 접촉에 의하여 발생하는 피부염으로 일반적인 양상은 습진의 형태로 나타나지만 여드름 모양의 붉게 솟아 오르고 곪기도 하는 농포성 타입의 접촉 피부염도 있다.
얼굴에 사용하던 모든 제품을 중단하고 화끈거리고 얼굴에 통증이 있으면 냉찜질을 하되 곪은 부위를 짜는 것은 절대 금물! 최대한 빨리 병원에 내원하여 상태에 따라 접촉피부염에 준한 치료 (복용 약, 바르는 약, 진정 레이저 치료 )를 받게 된다.

● 주사(rosacea)

얼굴 중심부인 코와 양 볼에 증상이 나타나고 여드름과 비슷한 모양으로 붉게 솟아 오르기도 하고 곪기도 한다. 하지만 여드름과는 달리 블랙헤드, 화이트헤드처럼 피지가 쌓인 여드름이 없으며 홍조증이나 모세혈관 확장증이 동반된다.
복합적인 유전적, 환경적인 요인으로 생기는 피부의 만성 충혈성 질환으로 초기에 홍조만 나타나다가 점점 진행이 되면 모세혈관 확장증, 여드름같은 발진이 나타난다.
일반적인 주의사항은 과도한 햇빛 노출, 사우나, 찬바람과 같은 심한 온도 차이에의 노출을 줄이고 술, 매운 음식을 피해야 한다. 아무 연고나 사서 바를 경우 더 치료하기 어려운 상태로 진행되므로 연고 남용은 금물! 상태에 따라 치료가 다르며 꾸준히 치료 받아야 더욱 심하게 진행되는 것을 막을 수 있다.

Skin disorders that may be mistaken for acne

Among skin disorders, there may be no one to be considered lightly and have been well known as acne. ● Pustular contact dermatitis
Contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin caused by direct contact with external substances, which usually resembles eczema, but pustular contact dermatitis is swollen and inflamed, and pus-filled like acne. Stop using all products that you have applied, and if you feel hot and painful, apply an ice pack to the area, but never pop the pus-filled parts. You should consult a doctor as soon as possible and receive a treatment such as taking medicines, applying ointments, and a laser treatment for relief, depending on its conditions.

● Rosacea
Rosacea appears in the nose and both cheeks-the central part of the face, which is swollen and inflamed, and pus-filled like acne. However unlike acne, rosacea has no symptom like blackheads or whiteheads, and is accompanied by malar flush or telangiectasis.
Rosacea is a chronic congestive disease of the skin that occurs due to compound hereditary and environmental factors. At the first stage only flush appears, and telangiectasi, and rash like acne occur as it is in progress.
Avoid exposing the skin to sunlight excessively, exposing it to differences of temperatures like sauna and cold wind, eating hot and spicy food, and drinking alcohol. Applying any ointment results in big troubles, so avoid misusing ointment. Kinds of treatments change based on symptoms of the skin trouble, and if you receive regular treatments, it can stop becoming worse.
